Textured Wrap

The inspiration for the Textured Wrap was drawn from geometric Sashiko patterns (a form of symbolic Japanese embroidery on textiles).  The design is highly textured, with Hebridean yarn creating the pattern and also mimicking a highly slubby yarn.  Once seen as a defect, slubby yarn is often now intentionally created with thick and thin sections for artistic effect.  The pattern seems to vanish at certain angles and then, from other perspectives, you see a vivid diamond pattern.  Woven in two variations relating to the stripes of dyed colour in the warp: Sorrel (from sorrel root and sorrel leaves), Woad and Madder (from woad leaves and madder root with a rhubarb mordant)
