This lovely retro-looking blanket features yarn from the Manx Laoghtan sheep – an ancient breed native to the Isle of Man, where they have possibly lived in the mountains for the last millenium. The word Laoghtan translates into English as mouse brown, but these blankets are anything but mousey!
We had a limited quantity of naturally-coloured Manx yarn, making this a very limited edition run. Combined with our Hebridean and Shetland “Silver” yarn the blankets are woven in a subtle basket weave pattern. The repeated dotted stripe is in Romney white with our own hand dyed yarns using Ardalanish-grown Weld and Crotal – a lichen gathered from the farm.
